Biography
Embla is a budding software developer who is currently in her last year of a Master's degree at NTNU in Trondheim, Norway. She is finishing up her master's thesis in Cybernetics and Robotics, where she develops a device that enables wheelchair users to play exergames!
Embla is almost as green as they come, with a few internships under her belt and a whopping 0 years of full-time work experience! As such, she is easily fascinated by the marvels of technology, with her catchphrase being “wow, some really smart people have made some really smart choices here”.
In her spare time Embla can be found either bouldering or making digital visuals of some kind, be it illustrations, generative art or music videos.

Have you ever wondered why your keyboard and mouse (mostly) is plug-and-play? What’s the deal with having to set keyboard layouts on your computer?
Perhaps you, like me, have taken computer peripherals for granted because “they just work and they have never given me any trouble”. But how do these devices work? In this talk, we will uncover the secrets of Human Interface Devices (HID-compliant devices). You will also have the pleasure of watching me trying to explain how I've been applying these concepts by creating a VR gaming platform for wheelchair users!
I will assume no prior knowledge in this talk. As long as you think the topic sounds interesting enough for you to show up, you will be sure to get the gist of this talk!
